You may have received our Winter Tax Appeal in the mail asking for your help so we can continue delivering life enhancing equipment directly to people living with MND. People like Liz* who rely on our FlexEquip service so she can spend as much time as possible with her loved ones.

‘Thank you so much for this wonderful service,’ Liz said. ‘Without this equipment being delivered to me when I need it, there’s no way I would be able to stay at home, which is the only place I want to be.’

In the past year, we’ve had to spend $230,000 on delivery services to ensure vital equipment is delivered to people living with MND and their families. Equipment that assists both with mobility and communication, ensuring people with MND are able to retain as much of their independence as they can, for as long as they can. None of this would be possible without you and it’s why our CEO wrote to you with such a big ask.

This tax time you can you help make sure someone living with motor neurone disease is able to have life-enhancing equipment delivered right to their door by donating now.

Whilst there’s currently no cure for motor neurone disease, at MND NSW we work hard to make sure people with MND can live fully inclusive and dignified lives. A huge part of this is being able to provide our FlexEquip service to those who need it like Liz, so they’re able to empower themselves and make the most of the time they have without the huge financial outlay for equipment.

‘As the carer of my wife, there’s no way I could manage without the equipment MND NSW provides,’ Mark*, Liz’s husband said. ‘ The support we’ve received has been second to none and means I am able to focus on spending time with Liz rather than worrying about figuring out where I’m going to get equipment from as our situation changes and how I am going to pay for it.’

In the past year we’ve provided and collected 3536 pieces of essential equipment door to door, ensuring people with MND have the tools they need to stay at home for as long as they can with their loved ones. 705 people have accessed this delivery service through our FlexEquip program meaning people with MND have access to what they need, when they need it as their symptoms progress.

We know it’s tough for everyone at the moment but just like MND our essential FlexEquip service never stops. To ensure that people like Liz are able to have the life enhancing equipment they need safely delivered to their homes, we need your help more than ever.

For as little as $25 you would be paying for the delivery of a communication device and a cushion. $50 is the minimum charge for a hoist to be delivered while a power wheelchair costs over $300 to be delivered one way in the metro area and upwards of $3500 to rural areas.

You can donate now to our winter tax appeal and help to empower someone living with MND and make a real difference to lives of the people they love.
