Thank You to Our Community Fundraisers

We’ve had some amazing members of our community hold fundraisers for us recently - from Ice Bucket Challenges to afternoon teas, fitness challenges and MND stalls, they have worked hard to raise awareness and funds to support families facing MND. We’d like to say an enormous thank you to:

  • Fiona Taylor, Stock Feed Manufacturers’ Council of Australia (SFMCA) and Grain Industry Association of Victoria (GIAV) for raising $14,887 on behalf of Duncan Rowland. Their Charity Golf Day was held at Sebel Yarrawonga, raising funds for research into a cure for MND.

  • Tony Houlcroft, the Coastal Wayfarers and the McCloy Group, who held a My Community Walk to Defeat MND in memory of Narelle Houlcroft and Jeff McCloy. They raised over $22,00 to support families facing MND.

  • Hannah Laprell held A Long Walk for a Future Without MND, which saw her walk 28km to raise $3257 for MND NSW.

  • Lyn Pennock and friends, who have raised $2725 from their craft stall held at Bass Hill Plaza. Lyn has supported us since 2004 and in that time she and her friends have raised over $158,000 for MND NSW.

  • Stockton Women’s Bowling Club, who held their fundraiser in Memory of Carol Shepheard, raising $5,830.

  • Bronwyn Hendy and the Yarralumla Uniting Church, who raised $3508 at their Hymnfest and Afternoon Tea.

  • The Little Teapot, who held the Drink Tea for MND in Loving Memory of Sue Taylor. The event saw the community come together in honour of Little Teapot family member Sue Taylor, who passed away from MND, raising $1015.

  • Batemans Bay Football Club for hosting their MND Round with a number of other local football clubs in the area. They raised $1,950 for MND NSW.

  • Yvette Dooley, who raised $447 through her My Community Walk to Defeat MND.

  • John & Dawn Meldrum, who have donated $1852 this year from the sales of John’s book, ‘A Journey Shared: Mateship, Malaya and Me’.

  • Allister Svendson held an MND Mega Month Challenge with his wife Jacqueline, raising $4125 for families facing MND in honour of his father Peter, who passed away from MND in 2020.

  • Jenn Bedoya of FDC Building, who raised over $1103 at a staff lunch to celebrate Socceroos v Paraguay.

  • Joanne, Amy and Torrumbarry Weir Holiday Park for their Ice Bucket Challenge, raising $638 for MND NSW.

  • Jayne Christian, who raised $565 through her morning tea and Meet the Artist event as part of her ‘With Time and Care’ Residency and Exhibition at Wagga Wagga Art Gallery.

  • Lily Starr, who raised $772 for MND NSW with her Do It for Tony fundraiser, in honour of her father Tony who passed away from MND this year.

  • Central Coast Hash House Harriers (C2H3) who again hosted an Ice Bucket Challenge in aid of MND NSW, raising $2513.

  • Gordon Rugby Union Club for hosting a Fundraiser for MND on August 8th at Chatswood Oval as part of the Shute Shield competition. Gordon and Warringah players and spectators raised $3,460 for MND NSW through buying merchandise and giving donations. Gordon Club are keen to continue supporting us in next year’s competition.

  • Susan Allaburton for her ongoing support, including through her recent stall at the Sawtell Chilli Festival where she and her friends raised $3408.60.

  • Brett Collins, who held the Debbie Collins Charity Golf Day, raising $1127 through sales of MND NSW merchandise.

  • Karen, Anne, Kathy, Debbie, Linda, Jody, and Kerrie for their Inspired by Leny MND stall at Westfield Tuggerah, raising $3392.

  • Debbie Mathews for hosting the Perfect Hearts MND Ice Bucket Challenge in honour of her husband and other family members who have passed away from MND. Debbie held the event at her school assembly, and raised $2998.

  • Cindy Pinkerton and Enlarge Living, who held A Cup of Hope: Drink tea for MND, raising $434.

  • Heidi Gibbs, who hosted the Morning Tea for MND in loving memory of Barry & Cherolyn Evans at Treetops Cafe at the Avoca Beach Hotel. The event raised $1,460 to support families facing MND.

  • Alison Carter, Sam McKay, Carissa Nascimben, and our very own Ruby Ritchie, who collectively raised $3323 by choosing to support MND NSW while taking part in the 2026 City2Surf.

  • Marconi Mustangs Junior Rugby League Club who held their Jai Arrow MND Round fundraiser, raising over $10,000.
