Heartfelt stories shared by MND community members

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Day of Hope and Remembrance, 27 June 2026.

Together we joined in solidarity for people living with MND and their carers. We shared a moment of remembrance, reflecting upon the lives of the loved ones, family and friends who have died from the disease.

We were inspired by Professor Adam Walker as he shared insights into current research and what’s happening across the globe in the quest for a cure.

An underpinning theme of the stories shared was love. The theme was intertwined within all stories and felt overwhelmingly within the room.

We heard about the lived experience of MND and its impact on people and families and we were inspired by the strength and resilience of those living with the disease.

Powerful stories were shared that articulated the impact of losing a loved one to MND. We were surrounded by the strength and love that continues in the families and friends as we remembered those who have died from the disease.

We heard about the continued dedication of volunteers and of the MND workforce as we shared in a moment of appreciation for those who dedicate their time and their careers to support our community. You can read the talk provided by Daisy Kitts, MND Advisor, as she spoke on behalf of MND NSW - here.

Thank you again to those who participated in the ceremony and for sharing your heartfelt and powerful stories.

If you didn't get a chance to attend this year, make sure you register for the 2027 event, more details will be released later this year. All members of the MND community are invited to attend.

“Attending the Day of Hope and Remembrance last Saturday was both inspiring and comforting for me. Thank you to everyone who shared their wonderful stories, especially Professor Walker and gave hope for the future.”
