A new e-learning course released by The NSW Department of Communities & Justice (DCJ) aims to support and empower people with decision-making disabilities to make their own decisions.

The course is self-paced, and is designed for professionals who work in health, law, finance, disability, ageing and social work sectors, and for the friends, family and carers of people with decision-making disabilities.

The modules cover a range of aspects, including differences between legal capacity and decision-making ability, rights and dignity towards decision-making, and in which situations decisions are made individually or with support. It also explores how physical, health and communication abilities affect decision-making, as does culture and language.
